I'm sure if I studied other more natural methods to get stains out, I could do it without Tide, but I just don't have the time. I still have a half a container of Tide, that I use very occasionally to spot treat a stain that won't come out. And I still have leftover A&H in the house, I haven't used it in a long time. Some of the Arm & Hammer detergents get a grade of C and some of their liquids get a D. ![]() Wisk gets a grade of D and High Efficiency and with OXI - get an F. Don't get me wrong, I used to use Tide and Arm & Hammer - when I was growing up we didn't know any better and we used Wisk all the time too. It helps to remove detergent residue and is supposed to do a little softening.Īll the Tide detergents get a grade of D or lower. I do add white vinegar to the rinse cycle instead of softener. When I pull clean clothes out of the wash or dryer, I want them to have no odor at all. I have always hated the fragrance added to clothes. I've made a lot of changes to what I buy in the past two years, but fabric softener has been off my list for decades. It is the Environmental Working Group that evaluates all kinds of products and the water we drink, etc. I haven't used fabric softener for decades, and after reading about it's effects on the website ewg dot org, I have even more reason not to use it. PR departments that cover up their lack of safety concerns. Products made by companies whose primary concern is not anyone's health and well being. We are all overloaded with chemical exposure in our homes, at work and in the environment. If you don't care about the environment, I would think you would care about your family's health. But today, even though it's only a few years since this thread was published, I think there is even more reason to make smart decisions about the products we buy and bring into our homes. ![]() I'm really surprised to find multiple people who have no interest in the subject and being hostile to people who do.
